Polperro Environmental Group (PEG) is a registered charity working on projects that support a low-energy and self-sustaining community using local skills, knowledge, wisdom and alternative technologies.

With the increasing impact of Peak Oil, rapid climate change and global consumerism on local communities, PEG feel it is important to achieve a more environmentally friendly way of life here in the village.  PEG are working closely with local individuals and groups, on projects that will help us become a more sustainable place to live.

PEG’s projects include:

  1. An exciting project with the National Trust at Brackenside, creating a natural shared community area and forest garden on the west side of the valley.

  2. Developing allotments and growing areas for local community use.

  3. Continuing our work on recycling, particularly for businesses and holiday lets.

  4. Continuing to support the work of Polperro United Renewable Energy (PURE) to pursue renewable energy options for the village.

  5. Registering as a Transition Village and joining the huge Transition movement which aims for local sustainability.

We normally meet the second Thursday of each month in different venues at 7.30pm everyone is welcome.

Date of next Meeting: Next PEG meeting Thurs 15th Oct Blue Peter 7.30 pm. Hope to see you there.
